Auckland FC defeated Wellington Phoenix 6-1, with Neyder Moreno scoring a hat-trick in a dominant performance.

Auckland FC showcased their dominance in the New Zealand derby, delivering a stunning 6-1 victory over Wellington Phoenix. Neyder Moreno opened the scoring in the 31st minute, capitalizing on Wellington`s failure to clear a corner. Just minutes later, Moreno struck again, with a slight deflection off Logan Rogerson doubling Auckland`s lead. Rogerson then added a third goal before halftime, despite appearing offside, as VAR ruled in his favor.

Wellington Phoenix made a bold move at halftime, introducing Alex Rufer, Nathan Walker, and Luke Brooke-Smith. This change paid off quickly, with Brooke-Smith becoming the youngest ever goalscorer for the Phoenix just four minutes into the second half. However, Auckland`s Moreno sealed his hat-trick in the 60th minute, quashing any hopes of a comeback.

Auckland continued to dominate, with Rogerson netting his second from distance in the 80th minute, followed by Jesse Randall completing the scoring with the final kick of the match. The victory solidified Auckland FC`s position at the top of the A-League Men standings with 36 points from 16 games, while Wellington Phoenix remains in 11th place with 19 points.
