The Nigerian U17 girls' team, the Flamingos, delivered a resounding performance in the WAFU U17 Girls' Cup, held in Ghana. In their second match of the tournament, they thrashed Niger with an impressive 9-0 scoreline.

The match saw the Flamingos start strongly, with Aishat Animashaun scoring the opening goal just five minutes into the game. Shakirat Moshood, a FIFA World Cup star, then took center stage, scoring a hat-trick that included a stunning 35-yard screamer in the 17th minute. Moshood's second goal came six minutes later, assisted by Animashaun, and she completed her hat-trick in the 45th minute.

Janet Akekoromowei ‘Semenya’ also had a memorable game, scoring her own hat-trick. She netted her first goal in the 33rd minute, followed by another in the 42nd minute, and completed her hat-trick shortly after.

In the second half, Moshood continued her scoring spree, adding a fourth goal for Nigeria in the 59th minute. Peace Effiong sealed the victory with a ninth goal for the Flamingos in the 79th minute.
