Colten Mertens showcased his dominance in the 2025 CrossFit Open, concluding the first stage of the CrossFit Games season. Mertens excelled in workouts 25.1 and 25.2, securing victories, and finished a commendable second in workout 25.3. His performance in 25.1 was particularly remarkable, as he surpassed the scorecard`s maximum of 10 rounds, achieving an impressive total of 361 reps.

The top 1% of athletes, a minimum of 1,200 competitors, will advance to the Semifinals. Notably, several prominent athletes, including Michelle Basnett, Alessandra Pichelli, Guilherme Malheiros, and Sean Sweeney, did not qualify for this next stage. The Semifinals will feature both In-Affiliate (virtual) and In-Person Qualifying Events, with nearly half of the advancing athletes hailing from North America. As the competition intensifies, athletes will face new challenges that will ultimately determine who earns a spot at the prestigious CrossFit Games.
