Heartland FC`s NPFL Title Hopes
Heartland FC's assistant coach, Charles Uzor, remains optimistic about the team's chances in the 2024/2025 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title race despite a recent draw. Following a 1-1 draw against Bendel Insurance at the Dan Anyiam Stadium in Owerri, Uzor emphasized that the league is still wide open.
Uzor attributed the dropped points to a momentary loss of focus, highlighting the importance of maintaining concentration throughout the game. `You draw your match strategy, but sometimes it doesnāt work out the way you expect. We lost concentration in the very last minute of the game, and you know, in football, any split second you lose focus, anything can happen,` he stated.
Heartland FC, currently in 11th position with 21 points, has 21 matches left in the season. Uzor believes this provides ample opportunity for the team to turn things around. He praised the young and growing team, noting their gradual improvement and the need for consistency to climb the NPFL table.
Heartland's next fixture is an away clash against Akwa United at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, a match that will serve as an opportunity to regain confidence and prove that the team is learning from their mistakes.
