Remo Stars Lead NPFL as Nasarawa United Strengthens Squad

Remo Stars currently sit atop the Nigeria Premier League (NPFL) standings with 36 points, showcasing a strong performance this season. Following closely are Rivers United FC with 34 points and Shooting Stars with 33 points, while Enugu Rangers hold the fourth position with 31 points. The competition remains fierce as teams vie for the top spots, with El Kanemi, Ikorodu City, and Kano Pillars also in the mix.

In a significant move to enhance their squad for the second half of the 2024/25 NPFL season, Nasarawa United has announced the signing of eight new players. This includes notable additions such as Benson Abbey, a central defender from Shooting Stars, and Peace Dewan, a left-back from Sunshine Stars. These strategic signings aim to bolster the team's performance as they look to climb the league table.

In a recent test match, the CHAN Eagles, featuring home-based players, triumphed over NPFL club Sunshine Stars with a score of 3-2. Isaac Saviour from Enugu Rangers was among the scorers, alongside Anas Yusuf from Nasarawa United and Ikouwem Utin from Shooting Stars. This match, observed by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, served as a platform for evaluating local talent ahead of the postponed CHAN tournament, now set for August.
