Zemlyanskii Dominates Blitz at Asian Chess Championships

Zemlyanskii`s 8/9 blitz victory and Nurman`s tie-break win highlight the thrilling Asian Chess Championships.

Ivan Zemlyanskii showcased an exceptional performance at the Asian Individual Chess Championships in Al Ain, UAE, winning the blitz segment with an outstanding score of 8/9. His dominance in rapid play has set a high bar for competitors.

On the women`s side, Alua Nurman clinched the blitz title after a tense tie-break against Valentina Gunina, who finished with 7.5 points. The tournament has seen some challenges with missing results in blitz games, yet the top board games have been preserved and updated.

In the women`s standings, notable performances include Gunina (GM, FIDE rating 2376) with 7.5 points, Song Yuxin (IM, China, 2361 rating) and Padmini Rout (IM, India, 2229 rating), both scoring 7 points. Other strong contenders include Elnaz Kaliakhmet (WFM, Kazakhstan, 2138 rating) and Khishigbaatar Bayasgalan (WCM, Mongolia, 2226 rating), both with 6.5 points.

The competition continues to heat up in Al Ain, attracting a strong field of international players. Meanwhile, the National Major Division Chess Championship 2025 in Sri Lanka features D M G S Mihiran from Royal Central College - Polonnaruwa leading with a FIDE rating of 1522, highlighting the active national-level competitions alongside the Asian event.
