Jordan Giles showcased his cycling prowess by winning the 2025 Portsdown Classic, a prestigious season opener for British road racing held on February 9. From the outset, Giles formed a breakaway group alongside Thomas Springbett, Oliver Richardson, and Judicael Clair. Despite Richardson losing contact early on, Giles, Springbett, and Clair maintained a strong lead against the peloton`s chase groups.

As the race progressed into the final lap, Giles intensified his efforts, breaking away decisively on the steep climb to the finish at Crooked Walk Lane. This strategic move left Springbett and Clair trailing behind. In a dramatic finale, Edward Morgan from a chase group surged past Judicael Clair, securing third place as Clair struggled with cramp on the final slopes.

In other cycling highlights, Billy Bolt continued his dominance in the 2025 FIM SuperEnduro World Championship Round 5 in Budapest, Hungary, clinching the overall victory. Jonny Walker made headlines by achieving Triumph`s first-ever SuperEnduro race win in Final 2, finishing second. Ashton Brightmore rounded out the podium in third place, while Milan Schmüser swept all three junior category races, intensifying the competition for the Junior World Cup title.

Zoe Bäckstedt defended her women`s U23 title at the Cyclo-cross World Championships, and Mathieu van der Poel secured his seventh elite men`s title. Mauro Schmid executed a late solo attack to win the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race, while Geraint Thomas expressed his determination to remain competitive in what he describes as a season of lasts.
