Evan Grime has made headlines in English athletics by shattering the UK under-17 indoor 1500m record. On January 19, 2025, during the BMC Sheffield Grand Prix at the English Institute of Sport, the 16-year-old clocked an impressive time of 3:49.47. This remarkable achievement eclipses the previous record of 3:52.53, set by Oscar Schofield in 2023, by a significant three seconds.

Coached by his father, Ian Grime, a former international runner, Evan has also established himself as a formidable competitor in outdoor events. He holds the fastest UK under-17 1500m time outdoors with a personal best of 3:47.72, achieved last summer in Loughborough. His prowess extends beyond the 1500m, as he set a British under-17 indoor record in the 3000m with a time of 8:23.76 in Cardiff last December.

Grime`s stellar performances in 2024 include running the fastest UK under-17 800m at the BMC meet in Manchester, finishing with a time of 1:49.69. He also showcased his talent on the European stage, competing at the European Under-18 Championships in Banská Bystrica, where he finished seventh in the 1500m final. His versatility is further highlighted by his victory in the 800m at the prestigious Night of the 10,000m PBs event. In cross-country, he has proven to be a strong contender, finishing second in the under-17 category at the Liverpool Cross Challenge and fourth at the Cardiff Cross Challenge.
