The AFL has revealed the 2025 VFL and VFLW fixtures, featuring exciting matches and potential state of origin competitions.

The AFL has officially announced the fixtures for the 2025 Smithy’s VFL and rebel VFLW seasons, igniting excitement among fans and players alike. The VFL season kicks off on March 22-23, coinciding with Round 2 of the Toyota AFL Premiership Season. This season will feature 21 rounds, with each team competing in 18 matches, culminating in a thrilling Finals Series that begins with Wildcard finals on August 23-24 and wraps up with the Grand Final on September 20-21.

Notable highlights of the VFL season include 30 matches between standalone clubs and 28 VFL/W double headers in the first 13 rounds. Additionally, there will be a competition bye for the AAMI State Game between VFL and SANFL on April 12. The rebel VFLW season is set to run from April to August, starting with Round 1 on April 18-20 and concluding with the Grand Final on August 30-31. The VFLW will consist of 14 rounds played over 16 weeks, featuring two competition byes.

Fans can look forward to all matches being live-streamed for free via the AFL website, AFL Live Official App, and VFL App. In other news, AFL CEO Andrew Dillon is exploring the creation of a two-tiered state of origin competition, potentially including an Indigenous All-Stars team, which has garnered player support.
