Rookie Showdown: Anthony vs. Crews for 2025 Glory

Predictions for the 2025 MLB season are heating up as front office officials from all 30 organizations weigh in on potential Rookie of the Year candidates. In the American League, Roman Anthony of the Red Sox and Jackson Jobe of the Tigers are tied as frontrunners, each garnering 19.1% of the votes. Anthony, an outfielder, showcased impressive performance with a combined .894 OPS at just 20 years old in the previous season, while Jobe, a right-handed pitcher, is poised to secure a spot in the Tigers' rotation after gaining big league experience late in 2024.

Following closely behind in the AL is Jasson Domínguez of the Yankees, who received 17% of the votes. Domínguez's rookie eligibility was impacted by an injury, but he is expected to make a significant impact if he can stay healthy. Coby Mayo of the Orioles, with 14.9% of the votes, is anticipated to unleash his power potential in the AL East soon. Other notable mentions include Kristian Campbell and Jacob Wilson, who each received 8.5% of the votes, with Campbell expected to contribute significantly to the Red Sox.

In the National League, Dylan Crews of the Nationals stands out as the clear favorite for the Rookie of the Year award, receiving an impressive 50% of the votes. Crews had a solid 2024 season in the minors and made his mark in 31 big league games. Matt Shaw of the Cubs follows with 18.8% of the votes, bolstered by the Cubs' recent trade of Isaac Paredes, which enhances his chances of starting at third base. Bubba Chandler and Jordan Lawlar also received votes, with Chandler being a promising right-handed pitcher for the Pirates.

The anticipated signing of Japanese star Roki Sasaki could further influence the Rookie of the Year race in both leagues, adding another layer of excitement to the upcoming season.
