Arsenal agree deal in principle to sign Merino

A contract in principle of up to £32.6 million has been reached by Arsenal and Real Sociedad's Mikel Merino, a midfield player from Spain.

Less than a year remains on the 28-year-old's deal with the La Liga team. The initial fee is £28.4 million plus £4.2 million in add-ons.

Merino played in all seven of Spain's tournament games and was a member of the squad that won Euro 2024. In the quarterfinal match against Germany, he scored a late goal.
