Simona Halep Withdraws from Australian Open

Former world number one Simona Halep, who received a wild card for the Australian Open qualifiers, has withdrawn from the tournament. The 33-year-old, currently ranked 877th in the WTA standings, will skip the event and is expected to return to competition at the 250 tournament in Cluj-Napoca, Romania, from February 3-9, according to L'Équipe.
