Raducanu fights off jetlag to defeat Mertens

Emma Raducanu, who defeated Elise Mertens in three sets, 6-2 3-6 6-4, in the Mubadala City DC Open in Washington, said she was battling jet lag at the time.

The 21-year-old won five games in a row to win the opening set in her first match since losing in the Wimbledon last-16 earlier this month. However, Mertens, the eighth-seeded Belgian, came back strong to win the second set.
