Fritz fends off Purcell to win third Eastbourne

Taylor Fritz defeated Max Purcell, the unexpected finalist, 6-3, 6-4, to win his third Eastbourne International title.

The tournament's top seed, an American, won the title in 2019 and 2022 and advanced through this year's competition without dropping a set.

After battling through two qualifying rounds to get into the main event, world number 94 Purcell of Australia was defeated by Fritz, who served nine aces in the final. Fritz's sheer force was evident.
