Aryna Sabalenka, the world's second-ranked player and defending champion, has joined world number one Iga Swiatek in the final of the Madrid WTA 1000 tournament, just like in 2023. To get there, she had to dig deep and overturn the world number four Elena Rybakina (1-6, 7-5, 7-6) in 2 hours and 17 minutes of play on Thursday evening.
