Australia`s Stars Set for 2025 Virtus World Tennis

Australia`s top players with disabilities prepare for the 2025 Virtus World Tennis Championships, showcasing talent and determination.

Australia`s top tennis players with intellectual disabilities and autism have been selected to represent the nation at the 2025 Virtus World Tennis Championships in Astana, Kazakhstan, scheduled for May 5-10. Notable athletes include Archie Graham, Damian Phillips, Timothy Gould, Aman Ramadani, Hunter Thompson, Hayden Ballard, and Kelly Wren, who will compete across various classifications: II-1 (intellectual disability), II-2 (Down syndrome), and II-3 (autism).

In ATP Challenger Tour action at the Guangzhou Nansha International Challenger, Australian players experienced mixed results. James McCabe, the 7th seed, triumphed over Omar Jasika with a score of 4-6, 6-1, 2-6. However, Moerani Bouzige (Q) faced defeat against France`s Hugo Grenier, the 6th seed, with a score of 4-6, 5-7. Top-seeded Adam Walton was also eliminated, falling to Alibek Kachmazov 6-4, 6-7, 2-6.

On a brighter note, Australian doubles pair Matthew Christopher Romios and Ray Ho, the 1st seeds, advanced to the semifinals after a hard-fought victory against Ramkumar Ramanathan and Fajing Sun, winning 5-7, 6-4, 10-4. Meanwhile, the quarterfinal match for Li Tu and Jake Delaney against the 4th seeds, Daniel Cukierman and Joshua Paris, remains pending.
