Badosa`s victory over Gauff in the Australian Open quarterfinals highlights her remarkable comeback and sets up a semifinal clash.

Coco Gauff, the number three seed, faced a surprising exit from the Australian Open 2025 after losing to Paula Badosa in the quarterfinals. Badosa, seeded 11th, showcased her resilience, winning the match with scores of 7-5 and 6-4. This victory marks a significant milestone for Badosa, as it is her first Grand Slam semifinal appearance. She will now prepare to face either Aryna Sabalenka or Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova in the next round.

Prior to this match, Gauff had been on a remarkable 13-match winning streak, making her defeat all the more shocking. Badosa`s triumph is particularly noteworthy considering her recent struggles with a back injury that had briefly relegated her out of the world’s top 100 rankings in early 2024.

In the men`s circuit, Lorenzo Musetti has made headlines by climbing to a career-high No. 11 in the ATP rankings after reaching his first ATP Masters 1000 final at the Rolex Monte-Carlo Masters. Meanwhile, Carlos Alcaraz reclaimed the No. 2 spot by winning the Monte-Carlo title, surpassing Alexander Zverev. Alex de Minaur also made strides, moving up to No. 7 following a strong performance in Monte-Carlo. For more updates on the ATP rankings, visit the ATP Tour and for WTA updates, check the WTA Tour.
