Vassar College`s tennis team wins 6-1 against Ithaca, while Villanova loses 4-1 to Georgetown in recent matches.

Vassar College`s Men`s Tennis team delivered a commanding performance against Ithaca College, clinching a 6-1 victory on April 12, 2025. This win solidified Vassar`s unbeaten streak in conference play, bringing their Liberty League record to 4-0 and overall record to 8-7. In doubles action, Fernando Bauermeister and Eugene Lee secured a 6-4 win, while Arnav Agostinho and Pedro Cattaruzzi followed suit with a decisive 6-2 victory.

In singles matches, Bauermeister, Lee, Agostinho, James Balon, and Joaquin Gil all emerged victorious. Balon’s match was particularly thrilling, as he battled to a 5-7, 6-2, 10-5 win. Meanwhile, Ithaca College`s record fell to 5-7 overall and 3-2 in conference play. Vassar is set to host RIT on Sunday, where they will celebrate Senior Day.

In a contrasting match, Villanova University`s men`s tennis team faced a setback against Georgetown, losing 4-1. Despite a strong showing from Trey Fourticq and Cooper Gordon, who won their doubles match 6-0, Villanova could not secure the doubles point. Will Monahan provided the lone victory for Villanova in singles, defeating James O`Sullivan 6-1, 6-3. Villanova will conclude their regular season against Coppin State on Sunday.

The Whitworth Pirates also struggled, falling 5-2 to Lewis & Clark College in a Northwest Conference match, with Ryan Ashley and Matt Hossack earning the only points for Whitworth.
