Sun Yang's Doping Ban has been Reduced

Chinese swimmer Sun Yang, who was initially suspended for 8 years by the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) in 2020 for smashing blood vials during a 2018 doping test, had his ban reduced to 4 years and 3 months on appeal at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in 2021. The ban expired in May, too late for him to compete in the Paris Olympics. However, Sun claimed his first title at the Chinese National Summer Championships in Hefei on Sunday, marking his return to competition.
