USA Surfing`s Multimillion-Dollar Boost for Olympics

USA Surfing secures a multimillion-dollar endowment, revitalizing its Olympic ambitions and athlete training programs.

In a groundbreaking announcement at the USA Surfing Championship held at the legendary Lower Trestles, USA Surfing has secured a multimillion-dollar endowment aimed at regaining its status as the national governing body for surfing in the Olympics. This pivotal moment for the sport comes as the organization prepares for the upcoming 2028 Los Angeles Olympics, where Lower Trestles will serve as the backdrop for the surfing competition.

The generous endowment, provided by Kamaka Responsible Development and Resin Services, not only signifies financial support but also includes plans for a state-of-the-art wave pool designed for year-round training of USA Surfing athletes. This initiative is crucial for fostering talent and enhancing competitive readiness on the global stage.

Under the new leadership of executive director Becky Fleischauer, appointed in January 2024, USA Surfing has made significant strides despite losing its Olympic governing body status four years ago due to financial challenges. The organization has continued to thrive, staging competitions and supporting American surfers without USOPC funding, thanks to the unwavering support from the International Surfing Association (ISA), the World Surf League, and Olympic champions like Caroline Marks and Carissa Moore, who have rallied behind the cause.
