Sophie McCulloch Triumphs at Gold Coast Open

Sophie McCulloch and Morgan Cibilic secured victories at the 2025 Gold Coast Open, showcasing exceptional surfing talent.

Sophie McCulloch made a stunning comeback at the 2025 Gold Coast Open, clinching victory in the women`s shortboard QS division after overcoming a back injury. Competing in perfect wave conditions, McCulloch showcased her determination and skill, outpacing her competitors, including Charli Hately, who also delivered impressive performances.

In the men`s shortboard QS division, Morgan Cibilic emerged victorious in a nail-biting final against Dakota Walters, scoring an impressive 9.23 to secure his win. Walters, known for his aerial maneuvers, fell just short of challenging Cibilic`s score.

Tully White continued her dominance in the women`s longboard QS division, winning her second consecutive title at the Gold Coast Open against Emily Lethbridge. Meanwhile, Kai Ellice-Flint narrowly defeated seasoned competitors Clinton Guest and Declan Wyton in the men`s longboard final, showcasing remarkable determination by retrieving his broken board without a leash.

The event was further enhanced by live music, food trucks, and skate clinics, creating a vibrant atmosphere supported by the WSL, Experience Gold Coast, and the Queensland Government through Tourism and Events Queensland. For more details, visit Gold Coast Open and Gold Coast Open.
