Tesni Murphy also delivered an impressive performance, edging out Grace Gear 3-2 in a match that lasted nearly an hour, with scores of 13-11, 8-11, 11-7, 10-12, and 11-8.

Youssef Ibrahim narrowly avoided an upset against wildcard Muhammad Ashab Irfan, winning 3-1 with scores of 12-14, 11-3, 11-8, and 12-10.
