Nagaland and Assam excelled in the KIYG Sepak Takraw finals, while Malaysia faces challenges in the Asian Cup.

Nagaland and Assam showcased their prowess in the Sepak Takraw girls` doubles final at the Khelo India Youth Games (KIYG) 2025, held at the BSAP Indoor Hall in Bihar. Both teams delivered a dominant performance, securing the gold medal and contributing significantly to their states` overall standings in this prestigious multi-sport event running from May 4 to 15, 2025.

Meanwhile, the 2025 Sepak Takraw Asian Cup at Titiwangsa Stadium in Kuala Lumpur saw Malaysia`s doubles team, featuring Muhammad Noraizat Mohd Nordin and Aidil Aiman Azwawi, face a formidable challenge against Thailand`s Boonkoom Tipwong and Sirisak Anuloon. The Malaysian duo lost the match 0-2, with set scores of 10-15 and 17-15, putting them in a precarious position for semi-final qualification. Their upcoming match against Taiwan is now crucial for their chances.

Despite the setback, Malaysian doubles coach Aswadi Abdullah remains optimistic about the team`s potential. The Asian Cup, running from May 10 to 18, 2025, features top teams from the region, promising high-level competition and spirited play. The standout players in the Asian Cup match were the Thai duo, who demonstrated powerful smashes and tactical acumen, while the Malaysian pair exhibited resilience despite their defeat.

Khelo India Youth Games and Sepak Takraw Asian Cup continue to highlight the rising talent in the sport.
