Exeter Chiefs Dominate Saints in 42-14 Triumph

Exeter Chiefs` 42-14 win over Northampton Saints showcases their dominance, but coach Baxter demands improvement for playoffs.

Exeter Chiefs delivered a stunning performance with a 42-14 victory over a youthful Northampton Saints side in the Gallagher Premiership match at Sandy Park on May 11, 2025. This win not only marked Exeter`s best result of the season but also secured them a valuable bonus point.

The Chiefs showcased their attacking prowess, scoring six tries, including two apiece from Harvey Skinner and Paul Brown-Bampoe, alongside tries from Nick Lilley and Martin Moloney. Northampton managed to respond with two tries from Jake Garside and Tom Lockett, but their efforts fell short against an experienced Exeter squad.

Despite the impressive scoreline, Exeter`s coach Rob Baxter criticized his team`s performance for basic errors and a high penalty count, stressing the need for improvement as they aim for a top-four playoff spot next season. The Saints, fielding a second-string lineup due to injuries and European commitments, fought valiantly but were ultimately punished for their mistakes.

Notable moments included Paul Brown-Bampoe`s crucial tackles and scoring, as well as Harvey Skinner`s remarkable 50-meter try. However, Exeter faced injury setbacks with prop Scott Sio and Tom West leaving the field, and Will Rigg receiving a yellow card. This match highlighted the contrast between Exeter`s seasoned players and Northampton`s developmental team as they both look ahead to their upcoming fixtures, including Northampton`s home game against Saracens.
