'Everton apply final blow to Liverpool title

It may have been the last blow to Liverpool's hopes of winning the Premier League, but on a night of passion and ferocity at Goodison Park, the cycle of sorrow that had gripped Everton for so long was broken.

If Everton's 2-0 victory over Liverpool at home in the Merseyside derby was reason enough to celebrate after their first victory since October 2010 was, they will also look back on the beautiful bonus of maybe causing irreversible damage to the opposition.

This much was evident as a lanky, lackluster Liverpool team hammered their heads against the formidable Everton defense and excellent goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, amid the cries of "You Lost The League At Goodison Park" reverberating around the storied old stadium.
