Mikaela Shiffrin`s Holiday Season Amid Recovery

Mikaela Shiffrin, the most decorated alpine skier, has been celebrating the holiday season with her loved ones despite her ongoing recovery from a severe injury. Shiffrin suffered a deep puncture near her hip in a crash during the giant slalom race at Killington in November, which was described as `damn close to piercing some organs.`

During the Christmas holidays, Shiffrin spent quality time with her fiancé, Aleksander Kilde, an alpine skier from Norway, as well as her mother Eileen Shiffrin, and her brother and sister-in-law, Taylor and Kristiana Shiffrin. She shared glimpses of her holiday on Instagram, including photos and clips of her family celebrations. The posts featured her posing before a lit-up Christmas tree, her fiancé dancing, and her brother's reaction to receiving a gift.

Shiffrin also updated her followers on her health progress, mentioning that she can now laugh, start driving, and is seeing the return of her abs, albeit with significant effort. Despite her injury, Shiffrin extended her World Cup medal tally to 99 in the 2024/25 World Cup season before the crash.
