Portugal’s Pepe retires from football

Pepe, a 41-year-old defender for Portugal, announced his retirement from sport on Thursday.

Pepe played his final game at Euro 2024, where he became the oldest player to play in a European Championship finals competition as Portugal lost to France on penalties in the quarterfinals.
