Snooker has been vying for the massive prize money at the Saudi Arabia Masters for almost ten years, according to world number one Judd Trump.
The Riyadh event, dubbed the sport's unofficial "fourth major" by organizers, is the biggest to be held outside of the United Kingdom.
The only event that comes close, with a £2.3 million prize pool and a £500,000 winner's payout, is the Sheffield World Championship.
