Reilly starts well in Olympic Qualifier Series

Kieran Reilly, the world champion BMX rider from Great Britain, advanced to his first Olympics after placing third in Shanghai during the first leg of the Olympic Qualifier Series.

Reilly, who last year became the first world champion in the discipline of BMX freestyle park after winning the men's elite division in Glasgow, finished third with 89.28, behind Olympic winner Logan Martin of Australia (92.65) and France's Anthony Jeanjean (93.54).

The competition in China, which also features sport climbing, breaking, and skateboarding, is the first of two legs in which competitors can gain ranking points toward Olympic quota seats. The second leg will be held in Budapest from June 20–23.
