Malaysia rejects offer to host Commonwealth Games

Malaysia has turned down an invitation to host the Commonwealth Games in 2026, according to the sports ministry.

The Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) offered Malaysia £100 million in assistance funds when the Australian state of Victoria withdrew as host.

However, Malaysia's sports ministry stated that the offer "will not cover the overall cost of hosting a large-scale sports event".
