Malaysia refuses to host 2026 Commonwealth Games

Malaysia decided on Friday not to host the 2026 Commonwealth Games due to their cost, the government announced, in a further blow to an event seen as outdated by some. The decision, taken at a cabinet meeting chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, follows the withdrawal of the Australian state of Victoria's candidacy last year.
