Richest badminton tournament gets even richer

On Wednesday, the badminton world's governing body increased the prize money for the season-ending BWF World Tour Finals to $11.5 million over the following four years, making the richest badminton tournament even more lucrative.

This year's Finals, which will take place in the Chinese city of Hangzhou from December 13–17, will have a $2.5 million prize pool, an increase from the $1.5 million awarded last year.

From now until 2026, it will rise to $3.5 million, according to the Badminton World Federation, which is headquartered in Kuala Lumpur.
