First Black Woman To Win Olympic Gold Medal


Alice Coachman was the first Black woman to win an Olympic gold medal, competing in the 1948 London games in the high jump.

Coachman overcame discrimination and unequal access to inspire other Black athletes to pursue their athletic goals.
