Canada to appeal against decision to award Russia

Despite Kamila Valieva's disqualification, Skate Canada will file an appeal against the decision to award the Russian Olympic Committee figure skating team the medal from the 2022 Winter Olympics.

The International Skating Union (ISU) demoted Russia from gold to bronze after Valieva, a 17-year-old doping addict, was handed a four-year suspension in January.


The ISU stated that Russia's overall score at the Beijing Games was one point higher than Canada's, which came in fourth place, even after Valieva's marks were removed.
