Mavericks Surge Past Blazers with Hardy`s Big Night

Mavericks Surge Past Blazers with Hardy`s Big Night

The Dallas Mavericks secured a thrilling 117-111 victory over the Portland Trail Blazers, fueled by a remarkable late-game surge. With a 16-0 run in the final minutes, the Mavericks overcame a 10-point deficit, showcasing their resilience despite missing All-Star guards Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving.

Jaden Hardy was the standout performer for Dallas, scoring a season-high 25 points off the bench. P.J. Washington also made significant contributions with 23 points and 14 rebounds, while Dereck Lively II added 21 points and 16 rebounds, marking his own season highs. This win marked the Mavericks' second consecutive victory after a challenging five-game losing streak.

The Blazers, who had led 109-99 with just over four minutes remaining, struggled to maintain their advantage. Anfernee Simons and Shaedon Sharpe each scored 22 points for Portland, while Scoot Henderson added 20 points off the bench, going a perfect 12-for-12 from the free-throw line. However, the Blazers missed their next six field-goal attempts and committed two turnovers, allowing the Mavericks to tie the game at 109-109 with 2:26 left on the clock.

Washington's timely 3-pointer gave Dallas a 112-109 lead, and a crucial moment came when Quentin Grimes tipped back a missed shot from Spencer Dinwiddie, converting it into a three-point play that capped the Mavericks' impressive run at 115-109 with just 31.8 seconds remaining. The Mavericks dominated in the paint, outscoring the Blazers 58-38.

Looking ahead, the Blazers will host the Miami Heat, while the Mavericks prepare for a home matchup against the Denver Nuggets.

In other league news, the Sacramento Kings continue to face a long All-Star drought, now extending to 24 seasons. De'Aaron Fox and Domantas Sabonis are currently positioned eighth and ninth, respectively, in Western Conference voting, both significantly behind the leaders.

The Houston Rockets also found success, defeating the Memphis Grizzlies 119-115, with Jalen Green leading the way with 27 points. Alperen Sengun and Fred VanVleet also contributed significantly to the Rockets' victory.
