SPURS Fall to Mavericks in Season Opener

The San Antonio SPURS suffered their first defeat of the season against the Dallas Mavericks (119-126) in the opening game of the 2023-2024 season.

Perhaps overwhelmed by the high expectations of basketball fans, Victor Wembanyama, the #1 draft pick, had a somewhat underwhelming debut, quickly limited by four fouls in the first half. His stats of 15 points, 5 rebounds, and 2 assists didn't do justice to his immense potential. On the Dallas Mavericks' side, Luka Doncic stole the show with his first triple-double of the season, recording 35 points, 13 rebounds, and 10 assists.

There's no doubt that Victor Wembanyama has learned from this experience, and Coach Greg Popovich will undoubtedly help him fine-tune his game and play more aggressively in the upcoming match, starting this Friday against the Houston Rockets.
