Victor Wembanyama is recovering from shoulder issues, impacting his season, while his collectibles market thrives.

Victor Wembanyama, the San Antonio Spurs star center, is currently recovering from deep vein thrombosis in his right shoulder. Reports suggest he may have undergone surgery to remove a blood clot, although Wembanyama has not publicly confirmed this. The Spurs organization remains optimistic about his recovery ahead of the 2025–26 NBA season, expressing no long-term health concerns.

Wembanyama`s 2024-25 NBA season was cut short after just 46 games, during which he led the league in blocked shots with an impressive average of 3.8 per game, alongside 24.3 points, 11.0 rebounds, and 3.7 assists. His absence has notably impacted the Spurs` performance, and he has expressed uncertainty regarding his participation in the upcoming FIBA EuroBasket 2025.

Despite the challenges, Wembanyama has emerged as the most collectible player in the NBA memorabilia market, with significant sales of his trading cards and game-worn jerseys. Notably, a 2023-24 Panini Prizm Nebula Choice card sold for $860,100, and his All-Star Game jersey fetched $228,600. He was named MVP in collectibles for the 2024-25 season by cllct, highlighting his immense popularity among collectors.

Speculation also surrounds potential coaching changes for the Spurs, with former coach Mike Budenholzer being considered. Evaluations of the young Spurs core, including De`Aaron Fox and Stephon Castle, continue as the team looks forward to a strong comeback next season.
