Spurs` Castle Shines Despite Loss to Cavaliers

Stephon Castle`s impressive performance wasn`t enough as the Spurs fell to the Cavaliers, led by Donovan Mitchell.

The San Antonio Spurs faced off against the Cleveland Cavaliers, suffering a defeat that leaves them with a 31-41 record for the season, placing them at the 13th seed in the Western Conference with only 10 games left. Despite the loss, rookie Stephon Castle showcased an impressive performance, scoring 22 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, and dishing out eight assists. This achievement places him among the elite company of Spurs rookies, joining Victor Wembanyama, David Robinson, and Tim Duncan as the only players in franchise history to surpass 1,000 points and 250 assists in a single season.

Castle`s standout game also made him the fourth rookie in Spurs history to record at least 20 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists in a game, following in the footsteps of Wembanyama, Duncan, and Robinson. On the opposing side, the Cavaliers were led by Donovan Mitchell, who delivered a stellar performance with 25 points and a career-high 14 assists, helping secure the victory for Cleveland. The game took place at Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse, where the Cavaliers are focused on maintaining their health and form as they approach the playoffs.
