Hamilton joins Ferrari for 2025 F1, partnering with Leclerc.

Lewis Hamilton is making a significant career move by joining Ferrari for the 2025 Formula 1 season, ending his long-standing association with Mercedes. This transition is particularly noteworthy as Hamilton`s connection to Ferrari dates back to his junior racing days, where he drove for ART Grand Prix under team principal Fred Vasseur, who now leads Ferrari. Vasseur has confirmed that Hamilton has harbored a desire to race for Ferrari since 2004, when he participated in the Formula 3 Euro Series.

As part of his new role, Hamilton will take part in Ferrari`s traditional "wake-up test" later in January, with the team`s 2025 challenger set to be unveiled at London`s O2 Arena on February 18. Hamilton will continue to race with his iconic number 44, a number he has chosen to retain despite his multiple world championships. He will be teaming up with Charles Leclerc, and both drivers are scheduled to participate in pre-season testing in Bahrain from February 26-28, ahead of the season opener in Australia from March 14-16.

Vasseur emphasized that Hamilton`s move to Ferrari underscores the team`s commitment to building competitive cars, aligning with Hamilton`s ambition to remain at the forefront of the sport.
