Irwin Sets New Benchmark at Donington Superbike Test

Glenn Irwin`s record-setting lap at Donington Superbike test highlights upcoming season, while Verstappen secures F1 pole in Saudi Arabia.

Glenn Irwin has made headlines by setting a new benchmark time of 1m 27.015s during the final session of the British Superbike testing at Donington Park. His impressive performance outpaced fellow competitors Leon Haslam of Moto Rapido Ducati and Kyle Ryde from OMG/Nitrous Competitions by 0.320s and 0.342s respectively. The top times were recorded in the sixth session before rain disrupted the testing schedule.

This test serves as a crucial preparation for the season opener at Donington, scheduled from May 3-5. Meanwhile, Davey Todd was testing a BMW Superstock machine, finishing 20th overall, while Peter Hickman was absent to focus on 8TEN Racing`s Superbike entries.

In Formula 1, Max Verstappen claimed pole position for the Saudi Arabian GP with a lap time of 1:27.294s, narrowly edging out Oscar Piastri by just 0.010s. Additionally, Lance Stroll set a record with 75 Q1 eliminations during the qualifying sessions. The F2 Jeddah sprint race saw Campos Racing`s Arvid Lindblad take the win, followed by Pepe Marti and Alex Dunne.
