Best MLS Newcomer award

Lionel Messi is one of three finalists for Best MLS Newcomer Award, playing six league games for Inter Miami. The Argentinian, 36, won the Leagues Cup with his new team, a competition between American and Mexican teams. But in the MLS championship, Inter did not reach the play-offs despite their late arrival. Messi's two competitors for the award are Atlanta United's Greek striker Giorgos Giakoumakis and St. Louis City's German midfielder Eduard Lowen.
