Marquette`s Lacrosse Rise and Ivy League Honors

Marquette`s lacrosse team improved significantly, while Cornell`s CJ Kirst set records, earning Ivy League honors.

Marquette University showcased a remarkable turnaround in the 2025 men`s lacrosse season, improving from a 4-10 record in 2024 to a competitive 7-6 finish, including a 2-3 conference record. This significant leap highlights the team`s growth and potential moving forward.

In the Ivy League, standout player CJ Kirst of Cornell was unanimously named Attackman of the Year after an explosive season, amassing 83 points and 61 goals in just 13 games. His record-breaking performance included a nine-goal game against Yale and the NCAA career goals record of 225 during Cornell`s championship victory over Dartmouth. Additionally, teammate Hugh Kelleher earned the Midfielder of the Year award with 25 points.

The Centennial Conference standings as of April 30 positioned Gettysburg as the top seed with a strong 12-3 overall record, followed closely by Dickinson and Swarthmore. Meanwhile, in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference, Seton Hill led the standings with a 10-1 record, showcasing their dominance in the league.

On the women`s side, the CAA recognized Drexel`s Jenika Cuocco as Goalkeeper of the Year for the third consecutive season, alongside Hofstra`s Nikki Mennella as Attacker of the Year and Stony Brook`s Isabella Caporuscio as Midfielder of the Year. These accolades reflect the exceptional talent present in collegiate lacrosse this season.
