ACC Showdown: North Carolina vs. Syracuse on April 26

North Carolina and Syracuse remain unbeaten in the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC) men’s lacrosse, both holding a 2-0 record in league play. Their highly anticipated matchup on April 26 will be pivotal for the regular season standings. Notre Dame has already secured a spot in the ACC Championship with a 2-1 record, alongside North Carolina and Syracuse. The final berth will be contested in the game between Duke and Virginia, scheduled for the same day.

Recent results show North Carolina narrowly edging Duke 8-7, while Notre Dame triumphed over Virginia 12-7. Despite a setback against Cornell, Syracuse continues to be a formidable contender, leading the nation in scoring offense with an impressive average of 14.7 goals per game. North Carolina, on the other hand, boasts a strong defense, ranking fourth nationally by allowing only 8.1 goals per game. The ACC Championship is set for May 2 and 4 at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

In Division III, Calvin University’s Thomas Smith earned a spot on the USILA Division III Team of the Week after scoring seven goals and assisting once in victories over Kalamazoo College and Trine University. Calvin`s overall record stands at 6-8, with a 3-2 mark in MIAA play, as they prepare for their next game against Albion College on April 19.
