Carl Hester Shines at CDI Addington 2025

Carl Hester`s triumphant return at CDI Addington 2025 highlights his impressive performance with Fame, dominating the competition.

Carl Hester made a remarkable comeback at the 2025 CDI Addington event, held from May 2 to 5 in the UK. Riding his Olympic team bronze medal-winning horse, Fame, a 15-year-old gelding owned by Fiona Bigwood, Hester dominated the competition. He clinched victory in both the Grand Prix and Grand Prix Special, achieving impressive scores of 77% and 76.936%, respectively. This performance showcased Fame`s enduring enthusiasm and high performance level despite a break from competition.

Hester, while emphasizing that riding and training take precedence over competition, felt it was essential to compete in honor of his horse`s owner. The CDI Addington event marked the first domestic CDI fixture of the year, featuring various divisions including CDI1, CDI3, and Under 25.

Meanwhile, at the MARS Badminton Horse Trials, running from May 7 to 11, Tom McEwen leads the leaderboard with a dressage score of 22.4, closely followed by Olympic teammate Ros Canter on Lordships Graffalo with 25.3. Other notable competitors include Emily King, Tom Woodward, Yasmin Ingham, and Oliver Townend, who leads with his Kentucky 2024 winner, Cooley Rosalent. The Badminton venue is a major fixture in the UK equestrian calendar, attracting significant spectator interest and offering extensive coverage via Badminton TV and a new app.
