Japanese gymnast set to miss Olympics

After violating a team smoking restriction, Japanese gymnast Shoko Miyata was sent home and will not participate in the Olympics.

On Thursday, the 19-year-old left Japan's training camp in Monaco as the authorities looked into the reported incident.

The investigation found that the teenager, who was captain of her nation's women's artistic gymnastics team, had broken the standards set forth by the Japan Gymnastics Association. That evening, the adolescent left the country and returned to Japan.
