Throughout his career, Anthony Kim defied expectations in the formal, disciplined world of professional golf.

The American looked great in his pomp, his swagger accented by nimble, slender hips that held ostentatious belt buckles. But after rising to prominence as one of the top names in the sport, he vanished from view.

And as he makes his nascent recovery twelve years later, it is evident that during that time his very existence fell to a potentially fatal degree.

He still stands apart from the typical golfer; his messy ponytail and the full-sleeve tattoo covering his left arm attest to that. But he now presents himself as a thoughtful, responsible, and appreciative husband and parent.
