Lester Shines on Sunshine Tour with Strong Finish

Rowan Lester`s T33 finish on the Sunshine Tour highlights his resilience, while Scottie Scheffler leads the PGA Championship.

Rowan Lester made waves on the Sunshine Tour, achieving a T33 finish in his first made cut, a pivotal moment in his quest for re-ranking status. After a rocky start, he showcased resilience with back-to-back rounds of 69, starting his final round on the 10th hole. A birdie on the 13th was followed by a double bogey, but Lester rebounded with another birdie on the 17th, turning level-par at the turn. He surged up the leaderboard, birdieing three of his final five holes, demonstrating his tenacity and skill.

Meanwhile, Liam Grehan fought through a cold, still managing to earn Order of Merit ranking points despite finishing 67th. In a dazzling display of talent, Luis Carrera from Mexico claimed the Kit Kat Cash & Carry Pro-Am title, following his recent victory at the Zimbabwe Open. Carrera began with a two-stroke lead, birdied five of his opening nine holes, and eagled the 10th, ultimately finishing with a stunning 62, the low round of the week, winning by ten strokes over a group of South Africans.

On the PGA Championship front, Scottie Scheffler maintained his dominance, taking a three-shot lead into the final round, while Rory McIlroy struggled with a 72, falling out of contention. James Kingston clinched the OFX Irish Legends title, birdieing the last four holes at Mount Juliet, while women’s golf saw Walsh secure a top-10 finish and Rhodes continue her impressive run in the Order of Merit standings.
