Maharashtra leads Khelo India Winter Games 2025, while India excels in cricket and athletics.

Maharashtra is currently leading the medal tally at the Khelo India Winter Games 2025, showcasing exceptional talent across various winter sports. In ice hockey, the Indian Army has advanced to the finals after a narrow 2-1 victory over the hosts, UT-Ladakh. They will face ITBP, who secured their spot by defeating Himachal Pradesh 3-1, setting the stage for an exciting title clash.

Ice skating has also seen impressive performances from Maharashtra athletes, who clinched a gold medal in the men`s relay and a silver in the women`s relay. Ladakh`s Skarma Tsultim and Padma Angmo shone brightly, finishing first and second in the women`s 1000m short track event, demonstrating the region`s growing prowess in winter sports. Tamil Nadu athletes added to the excitement by winning gold medals in both the women`s relay and the men`s 500m long track events.

In cricket, India continued its strong performance against England, winning the second T20I by two wickets. Tilak Varma played a pivotal role in this victory, scoring an unbeaten 72 runs, which helped India take a 2-0 lead in the series. Meanwhile, in athletics, Jyothi Yarraji made headlines by setting a new national record in the women`s 60m indoor hurdles at the Meeting de Nantes Métropole in France, clocking an impressive 8.04 seconds.
