MLS teams are making significant offseason moves, highlighted by Messi`s honor and key player transfers.

Major League Soccer is buzzing with activity as teams prepare for the upcoming 2025 season. The Colorado Rapids kicked off their preseason with a thrilling 2-2 draw against Celaya F.C., showcasing the talents of rookies Josh Copeland and Sam Bassett, who found the back of the net.

In transfer news, Los Angeles FC made headlines by transferring Omar Campos to Cruz Azul in Liga MX, while Minnesota United recalled Alejandro Bran and subsequently loaned him to L.D. Alajuelense. CF Montréal has been active as well, signing Michael Adedokun and loaning Matías Cóccaro to Atlas FC. FC Dallas also made a move, loaning midfielder Carl Sainté to Phoenix Rising FC.

United finalized a permanent transfer for homegrown defender Matai Akinmboni from AFC Bournemouth. Meanwhile, the Chicago Fire FC agreed to transfer defender Tobias Salquist to FC Nordsjaelland, and the Revolution transferred homegrown player Esmir Bajraktarević to PSV Eindhoven. They also signed Costa Rican winger Luis Díaz on a free transfer.

As the anticipation builds for the 2025 MLS season, which kicks off on February 22, all teams currently sit at 0 points. Charlotte FC, coming off a successful 2024 season where they finished fifth in the Eastern Conference, is looking to build on their franchise record of 51 points and 46 goals scored. Goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina was named the 2024 MLS Goalkeeper of the Year, and the team is actively preparing for the new season by drafting new talent in the MLS SuperDraft 2025.
