Morgan joins NWSL's Washington Spirit

Esme Morgan, an England defender, left Manchester City to play for the Washington Spirit in the National Women's Soccer League.

Although Morgan's intended departure from the City was disclosed last month, her final location was only verified on Thursday.

The 23-year-old and the US capital team have inked a four-year contract. The Spirit declared that City will be paid a transfer fee, and Morgan can join the team on July 15.
